The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) is a group of 607 small islands in the Western Pacific about 2,500 miles southwest of Hawaii and just above the Equator. The FSM comprises the Eastern and Western Caroline Island groups and its total land area is just 270.8 square miles stretched over more than one million square miles of the Western Pacific Ocean.

The Federated States of Micronesia represent one of the last truly unspoiled paradises to be found in the world. A vacation visit to each of the FSM States is to explore four distinctly different worlds. Each State speaks its own language and proudly displays its own traditional cultural heritage.

Federated States of Micronesia comprise of the four island States of Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae, which present an exotic feast of island culture, ancient and modern history, unspoiled tropical habitat and wildlife blended with the spice of Pacific Island mystique and wealth of the aquatic world.

Visitors to the FSM will discover a spectacular and diverse landscape made up of 2,000-foot-high mountain peaks, deeply gorged river valleys, cascading waterfalls, rolling hills, open grassland, lush mangrove forests, fringing coral reefs and protected lagoons, not to mention secluded and unspoiled sandy beaches.

The four Micronesia states of Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae attract divers from every corner of the globe in high numbers and their aqualungs breathing for some underwater adventure.

The FSM is made up of a diverse variety of natural ecosystems, from mangrove swamps to lush tropical rainforest and unspoiled coral reefs. These islands offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience for eco-tourists and adventure travelers who wish to explore beyond the beaten path.

The people of the FSM are culturally and linguistically Micronesian, but each island state has a distinct culture and languages with different customs and traditions that are now bound together by recent history and common aspirations.

The FSM enjoy a tropical climate, with stable warm temperatures year-round. Averaging approximately 26įC, the trade winds control most of the climactic conditions.

The FSM have a diverse range of habitats, environments and ecosystems for all to enjoy. There are a large number of indigenous and introduced bird species, as well as deer, lizards, bats, and thatís without mentioning the marine and river environments and the spectacular and intriguing insect species.

There is an explosion of tropical flowers, shrubs and trees on the islands, numbering in excess of six hundred. Hibiscus, Ironwood, Eucalyptus, Papaya, Banana, Coconut, Honk Kong Orchid, and Plumeria are just a handful of the trees found in abundance on the islands.

The U.S. dollar is the FSMís official currency, and major credit and debit cards are accepted in the tourist designed areas.

English is widely spoken and remains the official language of commerce.

Federated States of Micronesia can be reached by air through flight connections from Hawaii or Guam.

The Village Resort is on the Island of Pohnpei in Federated States of Micronesia. The Resort overlooks the north lagoon, with a panoramic view of the lagoon and the barrier reef. It's a quiet, natural sort of place among bread-fruit and banana trees on a point of land that juts out into the lagoon, away from the noisy hustle and bustle.
